To apply online, click on the Career Opportunities link.

  1. You must first register to apply online. If you have not done so, click here and follow the instructions. Once you have completed the form, click on the Register Applicant button at the bottom of the screen. An email will be sent to the email address you provided with your temporary password. If you do not yet have an email account, the instructions will let you know how to obtain a free email address.
  2. Once you receive the email, click on the Login link. Enter your email address and password and click on the Login button. You will be asked to change your temporary password to a new private password. For the old password type in your temporary password and for the new password type in your private password, then click the Set Password button.

    If you've already registered (or once you receive your online password), click the "Login" link to view current openings and/or to view the status of any existing job applications.

  3. You should now be on the Employment Profile page. At the top of the page, click the My Education and Work Experience link to update/review your education and work experience. The information you enter here will be applied to each application that you submit.
  4. Click on the Current Job Openings link to search for current job postings. The open positions are listed in alphabetical order by county.

    A link to the job description is listed next to each recruitment. Be sure to view the job description prior to submitting your online application. This is where you will find information regarding the job, salary, tentative examination dates, location, and other important information. The job bulletin will not be available online after the application deadline. Please print a copy for your records.

  5. Once you click the “Apply Now” link, this will bring you to the MSS online application. You will be guided through the steps to complete the application. You will be provided with another opportunity to add your education and experience information. However, you will not have the option to go back and review what you have previously submitted. Once you have completed and/or updated each portion of your application, you will be asked to electronically sign your application. Then click on the “Submit Application” button.

MSS will save a "snapshot" of your education and work experience each time your application is reviewed. If you wish to make changes to a submitted application, you must contact MSS immediately. Please be sure to update your profile with any new information when applying for any future jobs.

Note: Your application and any additional material become the property of MSS and will not be returned. Please make a copy for your file.

All communication from Merit System Services (MSS) regarding application, test scheduling, test results, etc. will be sent via email only to candidates who apply online or who provide us with an email address on a paper application. Notification/status information will be emailed to at each step in the recruitment process.

Candidates who apply via a paper application and do not supply us with an email address will continue to receive all recruitment notification via United States Postal Service.
