San Benito County is located inland about 46 miles from the central coast. It is home to the oldest mission, San Juan Batista, established in 1797. Also, it is home to the Pinnacles National Monument. The County is approximately 1,400 square miles, and ranges from near sea level to only 5,000 feet in the mountains. Because of the topography the climate is mild, with an average summer temperature of 67 degrees and an average winter temperature of 48 degrees, Fahrenheit.

Local recreational opportunities are rock climbing, golf, off-roading, skydiving, hiking, and camping and spelunking. Other recreational opportunities along the coast are within a one-hour drive.

Lettuce, garlic, bell peppers, broccoli, and apricots are leading crops. Livestock and eggs are a million-dollar industry.

Population is 43,000 and growing, and houses start at about $100,000.
